Because it is important to establish positive relationships in the community, SHUTDOWN 757 encourages parents to involve their student-athletes in its outreach initiatives throughout the year as an opportunity to give back and to help others.
Our goal is to create a generation of leaders equipped to demonstrate humility and empathy towards others. Throughout the season and during the offseason, SHUTDOWN 757 participates in the following community service activities:

- Hosting an Annual Football Camp for area youth
- Promoting academic excellence via a year-round academic tracking initiative
- Feeding the homeless in downtown Newport News
- Participating in Earth Day
- Engaging our student-athletes in Breast Cancer Awareness Month Activities
- Conducting a series of Canned Food Drives
- Volunteering at the Boys & Girls Club’s Ignite the Youth Talent Show
- Hosting Community Day and an Annual Free Shutdown 757 Football and Cheer Camp
- Conducting a Police Interaction Session to equip area youth with strategies to survive police encounters, to include understanding their legal rights and community resources, preparing them to communicate effectively with law enforcement officials, and teaching them exactly what to do when pulled over by the police.
